| Winner of the 1963 Pakrer Prize granted by the Maryland Historical Society this genealogy traces a principal branch of the Marsden family of Lancashire, England, which migrated to Baltimore, Maryland, early in the nineteenth century. THE 75TH REUNION AT GETTYSBURG: My Interviews with the Veterans

| In 1938, the state of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Government invited all living veterans of the Civil War to attend a finl joint reunion of the Blue and Gray to be held on the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. 1,845 old soldiers made this historic pilgrimage. Each vetersn was given free transportation for himself and an attendant. Most were in theie late nineties and may over 100 years old. This was quite simply the biggest event ever held at Gettysburg. An estimated 250,000 people witnessed President Franklin D. Roosevelts lighting of the Eternal Peace Light Memorial on July 3. - United States - Pennsylvania - |
