Seattle, Portland and San Francisco were points of departure and return, and many immigrants settled in those cities after trying their luck on the frontier. Volume 4 contains more than 400 biographies, alphabetically arranged and full of fascinating information. The majority of these early Alaskans came to the territory between 1880 and 1910. The main sources used for this compilation were newspaper obituaries and magazine articles.
